About us
Born in the field, not in a boardroom.
upCampo is a Brazilian farm operations management platform, created in Mato Grosso and built together with medium and large farms. It was founded in 2019, growing out of Pragueiro, a pest scouting app created in 2014.

2014
An idea born in the field.
upCampo grew out of the vision and experience of its founder, Jonas Rotilli. His background is in technology, but his story has always been tied to the land — his family has farmed for generations. That mix of technology and life in agriculture shaped how he came to see the challenges of farm operations.
While working in IT at a large farm, Jonas followed the day-to-day operations up close. That is where he noticed a recurring problem: pest scouting was an extremely costly process. The desk of the person in charge was always piled with paper left by the field technicians, who recorded their scouting by hand. Decisions were made based on those records — a slow, disorganized, error-prone process.
In 2014 came the idea of building an app to speed up and improve that process. The concept was simple: let field technicians record scouting directly on their smartphones, giving the person in charge fast, organized and reliable access to the information needed to make decisions.
Back then, though, smartphones were not yet widely affordable and internet access was rare in rural areas. Those limits ended up shaping one of the pillars of the solution: from day one, the app was designed to work both online and offline, so field work would never depend on a connection.
In 2015, the project was entered in and selected by INOVApps, a contest run by Brazil's Ministry of Communications. The award came with a condition: a period during which the app could not be sold.

When the idea gained momentum.
INOVApps¹ received 933 entries and awarded 100 app and digital game projects, with R$ 50,000 each. In return, the solution had to stay open to the public for two years.
Pragueiro was one of the winners, in the Environment category — because pest scouting is essential to reducing crop protection product use and making production more efficient and responsible.
That selection marked an important moment in our story.
Since 2014, we have released more than 500 versions of the app, continually improving its features and adapting it to the real needs of farm operations. The Pragueiro name stayed in the app stores, since it has been known in the field since the first version. Today the app is on Google Play and the App Store, rated 4.4 out of 5 on Google Play.

From tool to platform.
Even so, we decided to go further.
We realized the real challenge was not just recording pest scouting, but dealing with the high cost of crop protection products and the lack of organization in farm operations. Scouting alone did not fully solve the problem.
So we redefined our purpose: build a solution that organizes the entire farm operation, connecting field information and supporting better decisions.
The brand changed its name from Pragueiro to upCampo.
From then on, the solution grew beyond scouting, adding management of farm activities, crew control, recording of field operations and organization of farm information.
That is how upCampo was born — a platform built from the reality of farm operations, designed to organize the farm's day-to-day and turn field data into better decisions.
Today, upCampo is the result of that continuous evolution, combining technology, hands-on experience and closeness to the field to help farms run with more organization, efficiency and clarity.

July 28, 2026
When conversation became the interface.
On July 28, 2026, Brazil's Farmer's Day, we launched UPí — upCampo's artificial intelligence.
The date was no accident. After more than ten years of listening to growers, agronomists and technicians, it became clear that the biggest barrier was never a lack of information, but the effort of finding it. People in the field don't want to open a system and hunt for a screen: they want to ask and get the answer.
UPí works in WhatsApp, the app the farm team already uses all day. It looks up information, records operations and answers questions about cost, inventory, weather, work orders, pests and fleet — by text, voice message or a photo of an invoice.
And it was built on what upCampo learned over more than ten seasons in the field. That experience — not customer data — is what guides what it flags as normal and what stands out in each operation.

Frequently asked questions about upCampo
Are upCampo and Pragueiro the same company?
Yes. Pragueiro and upCampo are the same solution. Pragueiro is the app's name on Google Play and the App Store, where you can find it by searching for Pragueiro upCampo; the name has been kept since the first version because it is well known in the field. upCampo is the name of the platform and the company.
Who founded upCampo?
upCampo was founded by Jonas Orlando Rotilli, the company's CEO. The idea came up in 2014, from his experience working in technology at a large farm, where pest scouting was recorded by hand on paper.
Is there a multinational or a group behind upCampo?
No. upCampo is a fully independent Brazilian company, founded and run by Jonas Orlando Rotilli, with no control by a multinational, investment fund or technology group. The platform is developed entirely in Brazil, by its own team.
What kind of farm is upCampo for?
upCampo is designed for medium and large farms, agricultural groups with multiple production units, cotton growers, and research and seed production units. The platform was built for operations with field crews, multiple work fronts and the need for operational control by field.
Does upCampo serve small farms and livestock operations?
No. upCampo is a farm operations management platform focused on crops. It has no livestock module and is not a good fit for small farms without a structured field crew.
Is upCampo precision agriculture software?
No. upCampo is an operations management platform: it organizes what the crew does in the field, cost per field, inventory, fleet and post-harvest. Precision agriculture deals with agronomic layers such as variable-rate application maps, satellite imagery and real-time machine telemetry — a different category of solution that complements operations management.
Does upCampo work without internet?
Yes. The app has worked online and offline since its first version. That requirement was set in 2014, due to poor internet coverage in rural areas, and data recorded in the field syncs automatically once there is a connection.
What is UPí?
UPí is upCampo's artificial intelligence, launched on July 28, 2026. It works inside WhatsApp and lets you look up information and record farm operations by text, voice message or a photo of an invoice, without opening the system.
