How to check your farm data on WhatsApp
How to ask about your farm's costs, inventory, rainfall, pests and work orders on WhatsApp, what you can record in the chat and what you need to get started.
By upCampo
To check your farm data on WhatsApp, the farm needs a management system that answers through conversation. At upCampo, that is UPí, the platform’s artificial intelligence: you send the question on WhatsApp, as text or a voice message, and it answers with what your team has already entered in the system — season cost, inventory, rainfall, pest scouting, work orders and fleet. In the same chat you can record a work order by voice, a purchase invoice by photo or a fuel fill-up from the ticket. What you need: the farm uses upCampo, UPí is turned on for it, and your cell phone number is registered in your user account.
Why check the farm on WhatsApp?
Because WhatsApp is where farm operations already talk. The manager asks for the spraying in the group chat, the operator sends a photo of the diesel ticket, the owner asks about the rain while on the road. The farm’s data, on the other hand, usually sits on the office computer: in the system, in a spreadsheet or in a report someone has to open and send.
Checking on WhatsApp removes that middle step. Whoever is away from headquarters — the partner following from another city, the manager between one field and the next, the agronomist in the truck — asks and gets the number right away, without waiting for the office and without memorizing which screen it lives on.
What can you ask?
Anything that has been entered in the farm’s platform. A few examples, the way they actually come in:
- “How much have I spent on fertilizer this season?”
- “What’s the cost per hectare of the soybeans so far?”
- “How is this week’s scouting looking?”
- “How much did it rain in the last 7 days?”
- “How much glyphosate do we have in stock?”
- “Which fields are still waiting for the application?”
- “What was the last work order entered?”
- “How much diesel did tractor 12 use this month?”
The answer comes with the number and what it is based on — how many scouting points, how many rain gauges, which period. And because UPí reads every subject in the same platform, one question can combine more than one: a field’s cost together with the rain it received, or a pest above the action threshold together with the last application made there.
Do voice messages work?
Yes. Voice messages are the most common way to talk in the field, and UPí understands them just as it understands text. It transcribes, answers and, when the message is a record, shows what it understood before saving.
What can you record in the chat?
Besides asking, you can enter data in the platform without opening a computer:
| You send | UPí records |
|---|---|
| Voice: “open an insecticide work order for those three fields, for Thursday” | The work order with the fields, the area and the planned date |
| Photo of the purchase invoice | The invoice entry into inventory |
| Photo of the ticket, or text: “380 liters of diesel in tractor 12, hour meter 4,215” | The machine’s fuel fill-up |
| “We got 22 mm today at the headquarters rain gauge” | The rainfall record |
Nothing is saved without your confirmation. Before recording, UPí summarizes what it is about to enter, with the values, and waits for your “yes”. If a required piece of information is missing, it asks instead of guessing. And what it records goes into the same system the team uses: if something came out wrong, it is corrected like any other entry.
Does UPí make up an answer when it can’t find the data?
No. UPí answers with what has been entered in the farm’s platform. If this week’s rain was not recorded, it says there is no rain on record — it does not estimate or fill in with information from the internet. That is why the quality of the answer is the quality of the records: a farm that enters its work orders, scouting and inventory gets a complete conversation; a farm that records little gets short answers.
Who can see what?
Each person sees through UPí exactly what their user sees in the platform. The WhatsApp number is linked to a user, and that user has the farms and permissions the administrator granted. To record through the chat you need permission to enter data; whoever can only view, only views.
A question is about one farm: the user’s current farm. Anyone with more than one switches by saying so in the chat (“now the Santa Rita farm”). One farm’s data never mixes with another’s, or with other customers’. How the platform protects and logs access is explained on the security page.
What do you need to get started?
Three things:
- The farm uses upCampo. UPí is a way of talking to the platform; without data entered there, there is nothing to answer. UPí comes with the complete platform, up.360.
- UPí turned on for the farm. The upCampo team turns it on during onboarding.
- Your number registered in your user account. That is how UPí knows who is asking and what it can show.
There is no new app to install and no team training: anyone who already uses WhatsApp can use UPí. If you don’t use upCampo yet, start with the free month, on the whole farm, with no contract to sign.
And on the computer?
The same data also answers inside ChatGPT and Claude, through the upCampo connector — handy for whoever spends the day in the office and wants to build a larger analysis or table. The step-by-step is in the guide how to connect your farm data to ChatGPT. And the portal is still there, with the usual reports and dashboards: the conversation is one more door, not a separate system.
Frequently asked questions
Can I check my farm data on WhatsApp?
Yes. With UPí, upCampo’s artificial intelligence, the grower, the manager or the team asks on WhatsApp, by text or voice, and gets the answer from the data entered in the farm’s platform: costs, inventory, rainfall, pest scouting, work orders and fleet.
Do I need to install an app to talk to UPí?
No. UPí talks through WhatsApp itself; UPí only needs to be turned on for the farm and the person’s cell phone number registered in their upCampo user account.
Does UPí work with voice messages?
Yes. UPí understands voice, text and photos: you can ask by speaking, or send a photo of a purchase invoice or a fuel ticket, and it transcribes, answers or prepares the entry.
Does UPí save anything without my confirmation?
No. Before any entry, UPí summarizes what it is about to record in the upCampo platform, with the values, and only saves after you confirm; if a required piece of information is missing, it asks.
Does UPí answer with data from other farms or from the internet?
No. UPí answers only with the data entered in the upCampo platform for the user’s farm, respecting that user’s permissions; if the information was not recorded, it says it does not have it instead of estimating.
I have several farms. How do I choose which one UPí answers about?
UPí answers about the user’s current farm; to change it, just say so in the chat, for example “now the Santa Rita farm”, and the switch applies to the following questions, always among the farms the user has access to in upCampo.
Can someone who is not an upCampo customer use UPí?
Not directly, because UPí answers with the data recorded in the upCampo platform. Anyone who is not a customer yet can request upCampo’s free month, on the whole farm and with no contract to sign; UPí comes with the complete platform, up.360.
